ASCS Announces 305 Sprint Cars

Bryan Hulbert - Tulsa, OK (February 10, 2012) - For the past few months there has been a lot of questions in regards to the reality of there being a set of rules from the American Sprint Car Series that will govern 305 Sprint Car Racing.

The short answer is yes. Based off the car rules that govern the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series along with a variation of the RACESAVER style of engine, the effort being spearheaded by Scott Brown of Lubbock, Texas has set the goal of creating a smoother transition into the world of Sprint Car racing.

Much like the B-Mod (Sport Mod) did for the world of Open Wheel Modifieds, the ASCS 305 will give drivers who want to move up to Sprint Cars a starting place. With a set of rules that keeps cars similar across different fields of competition, it will also allow drivers who want to move between series a way of doing so without having to build a separate car.

According to Scott Brown, the goal of the inaugural year for the ASCS 305 is to work out any kinks and build the series to be able to sustain consistent regional competition and ultimately lead to the formation of a national point’s structure.

The first four races officially sanctioned under the ASCS 305 rules will be a Lady Luck Speedway in Lubbock, Texas on March 9-10, 2012 and the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico on March 16-17, 2012.

Lady Luck Speedway will feature a $2,000 to win A-Main on March 9th and a $3,500 to win feature event on March 10th.

The Southern New Mexico Speedway will pay $1,000 to win on March 16th and $5,000 to win on March 17th.

The 2012 season marks the 21st year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
